Start exploring Baku. Panorama of the city presented to the height of the mountainous part of a television
tower clearly gives an idea of the contrasts and the extent of Baku, the horseshoe bay of Baku. The city is
shaped like an amphitheater, descending to the Caspian Sea. Tour covers the central part of the city showing
the most interesting historical and architectural sites.
Visiting of "Old Town” or “Inner City”. The territory of”Inner City” - 22 hectares, which represents a
small fraction of the total area of Baku (44,000 hectares). However, the concentration of architectural and
historical monuments, dictates the need for this excursion into a separate and make this part of Baku,
perhaps the mostinteresting to explore. Maiden Tower (XII century), Palace of Shirvanshahs (XV century),
Castle Synyk Gala, Caravan Saray, Juma Mosque - this is not a complete list of attractions of the old Baku.
Then we will start our tour with excursion to Ateshgah. The temple of fire worshippers Ateshgah is
located at the Apsheron peninsula at the outskirts of Surakhani village in30 km from the centre of Baku
and was revered in different times by Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs. Current constructions of the temple
are dated by XVII century. Because of excavations far more ancient artifacts were discovered here.
Pentagonal complex has an open courtyard with temple-altar in the center which was the place of
pilgrimage for worshippers. By the decree of the President of Azerbaijan Ateshgah was declared a State
historical-architectural reserve. This museum under the open sky was recently restored. Different
workshops and souvenir galleries are located here now.

Transfer to Gabala - Gabala is the ancient capital of Caucasian Albania. Archeological evidence indicates
that the city functioned as the capital of Caucasian Albania as early as the 4th century BC. Up to the
present time there are the ruins of the ancient city and the main gate of Caucasian Albania. Ongoing
excavations near the village Chukhur show that Gabala from 4th – 3rd centuries BC and up to the 18th
century was one of the main cities with developed trade and crafts.The ruins of the ancient town are
situated 15 km from the regional center, allocated on the territory between Garachay and Jourluchay
rivers.Gabala was located in the middle of the 2,500-year-old Silk Road, and was mentioned by Pliny the
Younger as "Kabalaka", Greek geographer Ptolemy as "Khabala", Arabic historian Ahmad ibn Yahya alBaladhuri as "Khazar". In the 19th century, the Azerbaijani historian Abbasgulu Bakikhanov mentioned in
his book Gulistani Irem that Kbala or Khabala were in fact Gabala.In the 60s BC, Roman troops attacked
Caucasian Albania, but did not succeed in capturing the Qabala territory.

Breakfast at the hotel. Today we will visit “Gobustan Excursion on historical-art reserve
“Gobustan”, where rock paintings have perfectly remained, barrows and housing objects dated
from X-XIII millennial BC to the middleAges. There are certificates of inhabitants of region of an
epoch of the Stone Age and the subsequent periods in “Gobustan” - Rock drawings, person
parking, gravestone monuments, are concentrated there. Nearby is “Gaval Chalan” - original stonetambourine, representing flat wise established huge plate? It is possible to hear rhythmic accurate
motives by knocking on it. It is considered that these sounds accompanied ritual dances and
ceremonies. Visiting of “Gobustan” will transfer you to other world, the world of last mankind and
will allow you to feel the atmosphere of thousand – year history of this place. Our guide will be
waiting on reception in hotel.
Later, excursion to Yanar Dag. You can see here nature phenomenon, incessant burning nature gas
on the rockwhich named to the Yanar Dag reserve the burning rock. As the historians say, maybe
this place gave the name *the fire country* to Azerbaijan.
