Itinerary

DAY 1 : ARRIVAL PHNOM PENH AT NOON – PHNOM PENH CITY TOUR

Upon arrival, you will be warmly welcomed by English Speaking Guide and transferred to city hotel for check-in or luggage drop-off if the room is yet to be ready for you(note: Hotel regular check in time is from 14.00 or later, early check in is NOT included and subject to hotel avaiablility and regulation, early check in can be available on request in advance). The capital city of Phnom Penh was once considered the loveliest city of Indochina. Despite its recent turbulent history, it still maintains considerable charm. A city tour acquaints us with some major sights of Phnom Penh.  Afternoon, visit the National Museum, which is dedicated exclusively to Khmer art and sculpture. The majority of the exhibits are from the Angkor period from 9th to 15th century, but some date from as early as the 4th century. The private quarters of the Royal Palace are now home to the royal family and are therefore very close to the public. At the northern area of the palace grounds is Silver Pagoda, the most sacred temple in the country.

DAY 2 : PHNOM PENH - CITY TOUR

Visit the peaceful stretch of green fields of Cheung Ek which is located 15km from Phnom Penh town. Cheung Ek was made famous by the movie “The Killing Fields”. Nowadays, a large memorial has been built to commemorate the 17,000 victims who died here under the reign of Khmer Rouge leader, Pol Pot. The remnants inside the memorial and the mass graves that dot the area remind you of the suffering of the victims. This journey into Cambodia’s past will provide you with a background on the cruelty of the Khmer Rouge regime. It will also give you an appreciation of the struggle that Cambodian people have faced and their tremendous courage to move on and rebuild their nation. Return to the city and visit Tuol Sleng Museum which is also a reminder of the Khmer Rouge regime.

DAY 3: SIEM REAP – ANGKOR TEMPLES HIGHLIGHTED

After breakfast, Transfer (without guide) to Siem Reap. On the arrival, our driver will drop off at your hotel for check-in and refreshment before taken to the restaurant for dinner.We explore South Gate of Angkor Thom known as Big Angkor, 3km2 walled and moated royal city and was the last capital of the Angkorian Empire, The famous Bayon Temple was an architectural muddle, in part because it was constructed in a somewhat piecemeal fashion for over a century. Terrace of the Elephants is an impressive, two and a half meter tall, 300 meter long terrace wall adorned with carved elephants and gradual that spans the heart of Angkor Thom in front of Baphuon - huge temple mountain in the heart of Angkor Thom, Royal Palace Area and Phimeanakas - impressive rite and sandstone pyramid. Terrace of the Leper King is at the north end of the Terrace of the Elephants, a double terrace wall with deeply carved nag as, demons and other mythological beings. Last visit Ta Pnohm temple which is a wonderful combination of human genius and natural beauty! Giant trees have grown here for centuries! This afternoon we visit Angkor Wat temple, the Cambodia's ancient temple is one of the wonders of the oriental world. Masterpieces of decorative details as well as of architectural style, its awe-inspiring ruins survive as testament to the spectacular achievements of Southeast Asia's greatest civilization. It is a replica of the universe according to the Hindu mythology. It is composed by the Mount Meru, surrounded by the continents and the oceans. Its extraordinary bas-reliefs, describe some Khmer epics and myths. Angkor Wat's five famous towers rise into the sky, a geometrical arrangement of numerous galleries, adorned with beliefs and the stone images of celestial Apsara dancers, as well as portals, chambers and courtyards. Evening enjoy buffet dinner with Apsara dance show – a taste of classical Khmer culture. Overnight in Siem Reap.

DAY 4 : SIEM REAP – KULEN MOUNTAIN

Located 40km north of Angkor Wat, the Phnom Kulen mountain range provides Siem Reap with water and dominates the skyline of the flat plains surrounding it. Although the highest peak of the mountain range lies at only 487m, Phnom Kulen has much to offer visitors. The Cambodian people regard the site as the birthplace of the ancient Khmer Empire. King Jayavarman II claimed independence from Java there in 802 A.D. Travel in the morning by car through the countryside to Phnom Kulen and start the rather steep climb up by car. On top of the mountain you will visit a modern style pagoda that offers stunning views over the Angkor area. Visit the eight meter tall statue of a reclining Buddha and wash your hands at the Linga statue to purify your mind and body. Continue to visit the River of One Thousand Lingas and the magnificent waterfall close to it. Take a refreshing swim in the stream and pool of the waterfall and enjoy a picnic lunch served in a natural setting. If time allows, take a stroll around the area with your guide and venture off the beaten track to take in the impressive forest and scenery. Return to Siem Reap in the late afternoon.

DAY 5 : SIEM REAP – CITY TOUR – AFTERNOON DEPARTURE

Siem Reap Orientation visiting to local main shrine Preah Ang Chek/Cham to pray for good luck. Walking along a bungalow where is special for local people. They mostly come here for taking pictures with their family or beloved one and some come here for taking exercise in the evening. Bungalow is also home to hundreds of fruit-bats, where they can be found on the top of those big trees.Continue to Wat Bo is one of the oldest in Siem Reap and a peaceful place to escape and take a break from touring the major temple sites of nearby Angkor. This 18th century pagoda is particularly notable for its detailed wall paintings portraying Reamker, the Cambodian version of one of the great Hindu epics, Ramayana. The mural montage of intricate Khmer art is painted finely on the walls. We will also explore the popular handicraft in Siem Reap, the Artisans D’ Angkor, where it focuses on training unschooled rural youth. Here you will have a chance to observe the artisans at work and see how the handicraft is being made. Ancient techniques are still practiced here such as wood and stone carving, lacquering, gilding and silk painting.Transfer to the airport for your departure flight to your next destination or back home.
